Locally Handcrafted Lighting

Metro Lighting has been creating handcrafted lighting fixtures in Berkeley since 1993.

Co-founders Lawrence Grown and Christa Rybczynski, both trained in architecture, built their first pieces in a garage studio on Virginia Street. They enjoy collaborating with other designers on custom projects, especially on lighting fixtures for Bay Area restaurants.

Today, with over 50,000 fixtures crafted, Metro Lighting operates from an 8,000-square-foot showroom and fabrication facility. Every piece reflects their commitment to thoughtful design, personal expression, sustainability, and community.
